Purpose
To help non-English-speaking adults 18 years or older learn to speak, understand, read and write English to meet their self-identified goals.

The English as a Second Language Volunteer Tutor assignment requires a minimum commitment of six-months. Each learner and tutor pair meets twice a week, studies for an hour each meeting and sets their own schedule for weekdays, evenings or weekends.

QUALIFICATIONS

(1) Fluent in English. (2) Some experience in the field of education and/or tutoring children is highly desirable but not required (3) Strong enunciation and grammar skills. (4) Possess excellent level of responsibility, reliability and punctuality.

Description

The Covina Public Library engages the talents, skills and commitment of volunteers to serve the communities' information and literacy needs. We offer a variety of skilled volunteer opportunities to make a meaningful contribution to library programs, operations, fundraising events and other community engagement functions. Skilled volunteers have opportunities to lead projects, work with teams of staff and volunteers, learn new skills, and have fun.
