Volunteer Big Brothers and Big Sisters and the children we serve meet at the Little Brother's or Little Sister's school for one hour each week throughout the school year and eat lunch, read together, play board games, do crafts or just spend time talking. One hour each week reading together, has a positive impact on the child's attitude about school and academic achievement, while putting a little fun and extra meaning into the volunteer's day and week. All meetings take place during the school day or during after school programs at a time convenient for both the volunteer and youth.

Mission Statement
The mission of Big Brothers Big Sisters is to create and support one-to-one mentoring relationships that ignite the power and promise of youth.
Description
Big Brothers Big Sisters Lincoln has been mentoring children across Lincoln since 1970. Its mission is to help youth reach their potential through professionally supported one-to-one mentor relationships with measurable impacts on youth. The program matches adult mentors with school-aged youth who need or request extra support and guidance. The matches develop a trust and friendship proven to reduce the youth's risk factors for substance abuse, improve their self esteem and improve their academic performance.
