Description
A volunteer focused nonprofit that raises funds locally through our annual "Race for the Cure", Komen Shopping Card and annual fund donations. Up to 75% of funds raised stays local as we fund grants for education, screening, support and treatment services to local breast cancer clinics, hospitals and cbos serving underserved women -- uninsured and underinsured. We also engage in public policy advocacy and breast cancer education outreach actvities. We annually contribute a minimum of 25% of gross funds raised to our headquarters breast cancer research fund. We have funded over $10 million in local SFBay Area clinic/hospital and cbo services and our national research fund is the largest private funder of breast cancer research in the US. We work with volunteers at every level and facet of our activities.
