To be a mentor at Interfaith Family Services is to walk alongside a family working its way out of homelessness and into self-sufficiency.
You will meet each week with an assigned resident family to discuss their success or struggles with budgeting. Together you can work on the problems they face, and look over new information about banking, savings, debt, and planning using FDIC Money Smart curriculum.
Because the mentor and resident have a set curriculum, it's easy to get started! Meetings are either every Tuesday or every Thursday, from 6:30-8pm. You can make a profound difference in just two hours a week!

Mission Statement
Mission: We empower families in crisis to break the cycle of poverty
Description
Our Methodology: Stability + Self-Worth + Skills = Self-Sufficiency
Equipping Parents
You can’t build a life on unstable ground. That is why our first step is to stabilize homeless families in one of the 25 fully-furnished apartments that we own debt-free. Next, we build self-worth by helping parents identify a purpose that will help them to go from "working to live" to "loving their work." Finally, we provide families with new skills via counseling, training, and job search support to help them land a career with a livable wage while also providing the financial coaching needed to make the most of their new income.
Interfaith was founded by a coalition of Christian churches in 1985. The name "Interfaith," in our case, reflects the fact that various denominations of Christian churches have come together to support our agency. Our faith in Christ is the foundation of the work we do to stabilize families and equip them with the tools needed to have a high quality of life. We are driven to help our residents realize their full potential based on our belief in John 10:10-"I have come that they might have life and that they might have it more abundantly." Our values also reflect our faith in God.
