The Smithsonian Associates Program seeks volunteers who love art, and the process of making it, to assist our instructors and students in our virtual studio arts classes this year. No expertise in art is needed; but a desire to learn about it is ideal. Our volunteers work remotely, managing aspects of Zoom meetings, the platform we are using due to COVID 19. Specifically, you would allow students in from the waiting room, post announcements and links in the chat, and monitor the questions that come and up voice them to the instructors as needed. It does provide a great way to learn about a wide variety of artistic mediums, as you can listen in on the instruction and even dabble in your own artwork off to the side, using your own art supplies.
We offer about 50 different (non-photography) art courses in quarterly semesters. Generally they meet weekly for 4, 6 or 8 weeks, with some exceptions. To see our current course descriptions, check out https://smithsonianassociates.org/ticketing/Events/index.aspx?Studio-Arts-New
To apply please contact Jenna Jones, CVA at email@example.com and she will send you a position description and discuss the steps toward becoming a remote volunteer with Smithsonian Associates Studio Arts classes!
Questions? Either email Jenna at firstname.lastname@example.org or call her at 202-633-8596.
No additional volunteer opportunities at this time.
