Our Studio Arts students and volunteers have fun!
Nearly 50 art courses offered each quarter; Our volunteers help make them happen by providing hospitality and logistical support to our instructors. It's a great way to learn about a wide variety of art mediums while helping to ensure everything runs smoothly in the classroom.

The Smithsonian Associates Program seeks volunteers who love art, and the process of making it, to assist our instructors and students at our studio arts classes each semester. No expertise in art is needed; but a desire to learn about it is ideal. Our volunteers provide hospitality, configure the classroom tables and easels, handle check in/registration, and similar duties. It does provide a great way to learn about a wide variety of artistic mediums, as you can listen in on the instruction and dabble in your own artwork off to the side, using your own art supplies.

We offer about 50 different (non-photography) art courses in quarterly semesters. Generally they meet weekly for 4, 6 or 8 weeks, with some exceptions. To see our current course descriptions, check out https://smithsonianassociates.org/ticketing/Events/index.aspx?Studio-Arts-New
