It takes Little to be Big!

Do you have just four hours a month to dedicate to changing the life of a child? That's truly all it takes to make an impact! If you are looking for a fun, unique and exciting opportunity to make a BIG difference in a local child's life, then look no further.

90% of our kids come from single parent households. Children in our programs are just looking for a caring, positive adult role model to look up to. Become a mentor to one of our over 300 kids who are waiting for a Big Brother or Big Sister at this very moment. Be a part of a movement dedicated to reduce juvenile delinquency and risky behavior. Did you know that when matched with a Big, Littles are 75% more likely to graduate from High School?

Take your Little to the park to shoot hoops, toss a football, read a book or ride a bike. Teach him or her to ride a bike, swim, play an instrument. Simply share a passion with them that will inspire them to succeed. That is all they are looking for. Start something today!

Description

Do you have just four hours a month to dedicate to changing the life of a child? That's truly all it takes to make an impact!

Big Brothers Big Sisters of Southern Nevada (BBBSN) is a non-profit organization that is a leader in youth mentoring services. Since 1973, BBBSN has been developing positive mentoring relationships that have a direct and lasting impact on the lives of youth in our community, ages 6 through 18. Our mission is to help children reach their potential through professionally supported one-to-one mentoring relationships. BBBSN is the local agency of a national organization with over 100 years of history in providing mentors to youth who need them the most.

BBBSN's Site Based Mentoring program works directly in schools, with school principals, counselors and teachers to enhance a child's ability to learn, interact with their peers and reduce risky behavior and negative influences. Typically, the youth are ages 8 to 12, and are from low income and at-risk environments. We partner closely with eight elementary school sites within the Clark County School District.

Program staff from BBBSN are continuously and actively involved in every mentoring experience. Staff provide liaison with the school, support for mentors and families.

Our Community Based program is the more traditional mentoring program of BBBSN. Carefully screened and trained mentors are matched with children in the community who can benefit from an additional caring and positive adult in their life.
