The Direct Patient Care Volunteer works under the supervision of the Volunteer Coordinator in collaboration with other members of the Hospice Team.
Volunteers provide emotional support and companionship to hospice patients and their families.
Volunteers will see patients in nursing homes and extended care facilities, where their main role will be to break the monotony of the day. Other volunteers may be assigned to a home patient where the list of possible services could be expaned.
Volunteers must submit written reports of activities detailing actions/interactions with patients/families and caregivers.
Volunteers must attend volunteer training and meetings

Harbor Light Hospice seeks to meet the physical, emotional and spiritual needs of patients and families who are facing a life limiting illness. We focus on life and the quality of living, while accepting the reality of death as a part of life.
We provide comfort, companionship and active treatment of distressing symptoms, with the patient and their family as the focus of care.
Services are provided by a team of professionals and volunteers who are physician directed and nurse coordinated.
