Join Our Exciting Team of Volunteers!

We are seeking positive, high-energy, community service-focused volunteer theater ushers who have a passion for the performing arts and are willing to volunteer their time.

Do you enjoy working with the public and people who share your passion?

The Phoenix Convention Center and Venues owns and operates both world-class performing arts venues:

  • Symphony Hall: Home to our resident companies: The Phoenix Symphony, Arizona Opera, and Ballet Arizona.
  • The historic Orpheum Theatre: Hosts a variety of entertainment and educational programs including stage productions, concerts, dance, comedy shows, and silent and classic films.

Ushers are engaged as hosts and are the most visible reflection of service during events. Duties include:

  • Greeting attendees
  • Handing out programs
  • Escorting patrons to their seats
  • Providing directions and answering inquiries

Ushers are relied upon to be courteous, friendly, knowledgeable, and helpful to clients and patrons. In this manner, volunteer ushers can positively impact the experience of patrons of the arts in Phoenix, thereby benefiting those who utilize these facilities.

Our multi-level training program will equip you with the skills and confidence needed for your role. After completing our in-person training, you will be partnered with a seasoned usher for multiple events to understand the dynamics of our theaters and receive training for premier-quality customer service. Once you complete our training course, you’ll be ready to usher any event at either venue-and enjoy the performances while you work! Parking is provided at no cost while volunteering.
