The Franklin Delano Roosevelt (FDR) Memorial stands on the West side of the Tidal Basin. This Memorial to our 32 nd president, located along the famous Cherry Tree Walk, covers 12 years of US history. As the only Memorial designed by a landscaper, the FDR Memorial incorporates water, trees, and flowers into its design, stimulating all of a visitor's senses as they explore the four chambers of the Memorial.

FDR Memorial volunteers spend time in the Memorial, interacting with visitors. They also assist Park Rangers with giving talks, answering questions, and interpreting the symbolic elements of the memorial. The FDR Memorial plays an important part in the annual Cherry Blossom Festival, during which special volunteer opportunities exist.

The National Mall and Memorial Parks mission is to manage, preserve, and maintain the monuments, memorials, and historic sites in the heart of Washington, D.C., and to provide opportunities for all Americans and park visitors to understand and be inspired by their significance. You can help advance this mission by volunteering in the park!
