At Heartland, we offer a great volunteer program that will enable you to help others in their time of need. Volunteers are the "heart" of Heartland because they give of themselves. In return, they receive much more than they give!
There are many different ways in which you can volunteer:
Administrative- working in an office setting
Friendly visits - reading, writing, visiting, running errands, and respite sitting
Bereavement - supporting families through the grief process
Vigil - supporting family members during the final hours

Mission Statement
The mission of heartland Hospice is to provide quality hospice care to patients with a limited life expectancy, as well as support to their caregivers. The quality of life for those we serve is enhanced through palliative and specilized supportive care designed to meet the physical, psychosocial, and spiritual needs of the patients and caregivers. Hospice care is provided by an interdisciplinary team utilizing an approch to the care delived to patients either in their own home or extended care facility; working cooperatively with area health care providers and other community resources. Heartland strives to provide care to all who are eligible and need hopice care irrespective of ability to pay.
Description
Volunteers are a part of the Hospice team. We depend on our volunteers to help us provide the extra love and care our clients and their famililes need at this time in their life
Volunteers offer support, companionship and practical, caring help to this special group of people. Volunteers may use their own special talents to share with the patients.
As a Heartland Hospice volunteer, your can donate as much or as little of your time as you desire, The duties of our volunteers are varied. This flexibility allows you to find an area of service that is uniquely sutied to you as well as provide you with the greatest personal satisfaction.

REQUIREMENTS
- Driver's License Needed
- Background Check
- Must be at least 16
- Orientation or Training
- You can volunteer a little as 1 hour/week or as much as you would like.
- At Heartland Hospice, we require all volunteers to take a drug test and to have a background check (company paid). We provide 13 hours of training before you see patients, and we provide support and encouragement along the way.
