The sacred heart of hospice

Gerinet Healthcare needs caring, dependable and committed individuals to volunteer a couple of hours a week to BRING the outside world to our home and bed bound terminally ill patients and sometimes provide a break for their families in Sylmar.

There are so many ways our volunteers are able to help our patients and their families. For example, they could make friendly visits to listen, hold a hand, play cards, watch a favorite video, read a book, sing or play music. For patient's families or caregiverrs, our volunteers can run errands, or stay with the patient for a brief time to give a family member a much needed break is also helpful.

Through patient visits, our volunteers can use their creativity to bring the world to our patients. From the beach to the movies. From the lake, to the mall, our team can bring our patient's favorite places right to their homes!

Free training is provided. Following training, physical and TB tests; volunteers are placed with patients as close to the volunteer's home as possible.

Applicants who have recently lost a loved one must wait one year before making direct patient contact.
