Client Advocate Assistant

Description:Assist staff in the operation of the 24hour Client Services Center. Provide assistance to shelter residents with basic care needs and appointments. Greet new clients and provide tour and room assignments.

*Volunteers at the Fort Worth Shelter will also be trained to answer Hotline calls. See description below.

Time Commitment:Weekly, 2-3 Hour Shifts 7:00 a.m. - 10:00 p.m. Monday through Sunday

Location: Fort Worth or Arlington Shelter

Requirements: Training: New Volunteer Orientation & Crisis Intervention Training

Age: Minimum 18 years of age

Personal: Good listening skills, patient, non- judgmental, sensitive to the feelings of others, quick thinker, calm under pressure, self-starter. Volunteers must be able to lift 25 pounds.

Domestic violence shelters that provide emergency housing for women and children. Case management, counseling and support groups are available for all clients. Community education and prevention programs are also an important part of the services provided.
