Big Brothers Big Sisters Seeks 100 Men in 100 Days
Hey Men! Are you up for the challenge?
MAY 30 TH, 2013- LARGO, FL - Big Brothers Big Sisters serving Pinellas, Citrus and Hernando Counties will launch the third annual 100 Men in 100 Days Campaign on June 1 st, 2013.
We are calling all men to action! Recruiting 100 Men in 100 Days is a challenge we graciously accept, as we are fully aware that the impact made on these children results in long-term, successful outcomes. The question remains, are you up for the challenge?
100 Men in 100 Days was initially founded to assist in removing the overwhelming number of boys waiting for a mentor from the agency waiting list. It should come as no surprise that there are currently 131 boys ready to be matched with a positive male role model!
Here's how to get started:
· CALL 727.518.8860 or e-mail Community Outreach Coordinator, Samantha Fenger at SamanthaF@bbbspc.org .
· Pick a program;
o Community based: as a volunteer you will meet with the child for four hours each month, these visits consist of you picking the child up from his home and spending quality time together in the community.
o Sports Buddies: an extension of Community Based, this program stems from building an instant friendship from a common interest, sports. Get priority access to sporting tickets to see local teams in action or simply spend time at the park throwing a football.
o School based: meeting with the child on school grounds for one hour per week; your visit will typically range from eating lunch together, playing on the play ground, helping with academic work or merely talking about your day. You are not responsible for seeing the child when school is not in session.
· Interview session with one of our degreed Match Managers
· Match; meet your new Little Brother!
Only 1/3 of volunteer inquiries are from men and boys often spend over one year waiting to be matched with someone they can call their friend.
There are 744 hours in an average month. It only takes 4 to be a Big Brother. We hope you will accept our challenge.
About Big Brothers Big Sisters of Pinellas County
For more than 100 years, Big Brothers Big Sisters has operated under the belief that inherent in every child is the ability to succeed and thrive in life. Most children served by Big Brothers Big Sisters are in single-parent and low-income families or households where a parent is incarcerated. As the nation's largest donor and volunteer supported mentoring network, Big Brothers Big Sisters makes meaningful, monitored matches between adult volunteers ("Bigs") and children ("Littles").
Big Brothers Big Sisters provides a system of ongoing evaluation and support which is proven by independent studies to help families by improving the odds that "Littles" will perform better in school and avoid violence and illegal activities, and have stronger relationships with their parents and others. Big Brothers Big Sisters of Pinellas County serves Pinellas, Hernando and Citrus Counties. Learn how you can positively impact a child's life, donate or volunteer today at www.bbbspc.org
