Every year more than half a million abused and neglected children are in need of safe, permanent, nurturing homes. Too many spend years moving from one temporary home to another. They have no family to call their own. They are more likely than other children to face homelessness, unemployment, even prison as adults. That's where the Guardian ad Litem Program steps in. The Guardian ad Litem Program was created to make sure the abuse and neglect these children originally suffered at home doesn't continue as abuse and neglect at the hands of the system. As trained advocates, GAL volunteers are appointed by judges to be a voice for these children in court. The result is that a child is placed into a safe, loving home where he/she can thrive. We have implemented social distancing guidelines due to COVID-19. Our visits with the children are conducted in person following social distancing guidelines and court hearings are being conducted virtually. All of our training is being held online through the "I am for the Child" academy website. Be that voice for a child that needs an advocate in the court system!

Description
Every year more than half a million abused and neglected children are in need of safe, permanent, nurturing homes. That's where the Guardian ad Litem Program steps in. (Also called CASA or Court Appointed Special Advocates) was created in 1977 to make sure the abuse and neglect these children originally suffered at home doesn't continue as abuse and neglect at the hands of the system. As trained advocates, GAL volunteers are appointed by judges to be a voice for these children in court. The result is that a child is placed into a safe, loving home where he/she can thrive. It is the Guardian ad Litem vision to provide a volunteer for each and every abused and neglected child who needs one.
