We are an all-volunteer organization helping Santa Clara County residents who have questions about cats. Feral cats, pet cats, local resources, we answer all cat-related questions. This opportunity is perfect if you love to share your knowledge of cats but cannot commit to volunteering on-site. The volunteers independently work from any location responding to a variety of questions.

This are no hands-on cat interactions for this position. The Cat Resource Center does not have a facility.

Santa Clara County, California. Requires an internet access, phone, ability to work with a simple database, and a desire to help with a non-judgemental attitude.

The hours are variable and flexible. Volunteer from home.

Mission Statement

To support private and public efforts to improve the quality of life for all cats and to reduce/eliminate the killing of homeless cats.

Description

A. Decrease homelessness by increasing the number of spayed and neutered animals in both the pet and feral communities. Strengthen existing pet homes through information and education (website and educational classes). Improve likelihood of reuniting lost pets with guardians by encouraging microchipping. Increase the number of adoptions by increasing venues and providing convenient and innovative access to the animals.

B. Support free-roaming cats. The Cat Resource Center will solicit food donations, and set up a central distribution point for food. We will also support Trap-Neuter-Return activities, coordinate volunteer support, and hold public educational classes on colony management.

C. Liaison between government, animal control, and local animal shelters and rescue groups. Dealing with the government allows rescuers to focus on the animals.

D. Strengthen resources by building and improving existing volunteer programs, developing fundraising capabilities and increasing efficiency and effectiveness of shelter and rescue group operations Attract volunteers with specific expertise who may not be interested in fieldwork. Train volunteers.

E. Raise awareness by educating consumers on the issues and repercussions surrounding homeless animals and increasing awareness of homeless animals and the organizations that care for them.
