Adults are not the only ones who get stressed out, teens do too. Our teens in the shelter are between the ages of 11-17 and love to learn new coping skills to deal with their day-to-day lives.

We are looking for volunteers with a passion for health and relaxation

We are currently looking for an energetic and experienced Yoga Instructor to teach our teens how to properly channel there energy through yoga. The ideal candidate for this position is experienced in different yoga series and is knowledgeable in Kids’ yoga. This volunteer will need to be an excellent communicator with motivational skills to help cautiously push our teens out of their shyness and through the physical and mental struggle while encouraging them throughout the class.

Must be able to:

  1. Lead a group of 2-10 individuals at a time.
  2. Demonstrate different practices and techniques.
  3. Offer alternative poses for clients with limitations.
  4. Commit to a consistent schedule for a minimum of 2 one-hour groups a month.
  5. Willing to work evenings or weekends
  6. Knowledgeable in Yoga
  7. Excellent communicator
  8. Constant motivator

** Due to confidentiality, licensing requires all volunteers be over the age of 18 and able to pass a background check.

Operation SafeHouse, with community support, provides emergency shelter, intervention and outreach services to runaway, homeless, and other youth in crisis. SafeHouse Offers youth positive alternatives to becoming victims of the streets.

Description

We are a shelter for youth at risk, in crisis, or a runaway. SafeHouse of the Desert will provide a critical alternative to young people whose lives are in turmoil. We have a 3 or 4 week program. Our 4 week program is our drug and alcohol program. Our goal is to keep the family unit together.

Age range is from 11 to 17.
