Now more than ever, youth need positive role models and a listening ear. As youth attempt to return to a sense of normalcy this year they will be working to catch up academically, hone social skills, grapple with social issues, and plan for their future amid lingering uncertainty. We are looking for adults who are willing to listen and lend a hand this year by spending at least 1 hour per week with youth.

GoodGuides is a nationally accredited youth mentoring program dedicated to providing positive youth development to youth ages 12-17. Youth are paired with a volunteer from the community who serves as a positive role model, a listening ear, and someone to have fun with! GoodGuides mentors come from all ages and backgrounds - including college students, professionals, homemakers, retirees, and the military.

Our mentors commit to meeting with their youth for 4 hours per month (average of 1 hour per week) for a minimum of 1 year. Some mentors can choose to meet with one youth on a flexible schedule in the community - going to the library, playing at a park, or grabbing a soda and talking. Other mentors prefer to meet with a small group of youth (3-4) at a school setting during their lunch or study hall. Staff is there to guide you every step of the relationship.

We are currently enrolling and training mentors to begin mentoring youth in the Peoria area this summer and next school year! If you think this might be a good fit for you, contact us at 309-369-2335 or youthservices@goodwillpeo.org for more information.
