Time Frame:
- Three-six months
Position Summary:
- The role of the Resource Verification Volunteer is to update resources housed in an American Cancer Society database by calling organizations to verify information is correct. The volunteer will complete a form detailing corrections, deletions, and/or additions required.
Responsibilities:
- Attend volunteer training session
- Call the organization for each resource to verify accuracy of information
- Record all additions, changes and/or deletions needed for the resource following standard processes.
- Complete a data collection form when a resource needs to be added to the database.
- Keep a daily record of the number of calls made to organization and the number of resources verified.
Qualifications:
- Communications skills
- Organizational skills
- Telephone etiquette
- Ability to manage and maintain information
Support Provided:
- Training provided by the American Cancer Society. Ongoing support provided by ACS staff.

The Retired and Senior Volunteer Program (RSVP) provides opportunities for people 55 and over to make a difference in their community through volunteer service. RSVP volunteers contribute anywhere from a few to over forty hours a week, serving through schools, day care centers, police departments, hospitals and other nonprofit and public organizations to help meet critical community needs. RSVP offers maximum flexibility and choice to its volunteers. RSVP matches the personal interests and skills of older Americans with opportunities to help solve community problems and offers supplemental insurance while on duty, and on-the-job training from the agency or organization where volunteers are placed.
