Volunteer's Lament
As a stay at home mother and devoted wife
I have volunteered my entire adult life.
Involved in every organization around
Kept me running all over town.
I scheduled fund raisers, baked cakes and pies
Planned school picnics, then prayed for blue skies
Now my children are away and grown
With work and schedules of their own
Yet even today I hear the call
And volunteer to help one and all
Someday, I'll leave this mortal Earth
To stand and be counted, for what it's worth
And when St. Peter looks my way,
I think I know just what he will say
"to give out the harps and halos here,
I will need a willing......VOLUNTEER!"

Description
HarmonyCares Hospice of Lansing provides patients with a terminal illness, with a life expectancy of 6 months or less, the specialized care needed at end of life. Volunteers provide a wide range of activities across several counties including Ingham, Shiawassee, Clinton, Jackson, and Eaton. Volunteers can sign up to provide companionship, emotional support, supportive presence, light housekeeping, lawn/ pet care, and MUCH MUCH MORE!

- Since we are working with an at risk population, volunteers will be required to undergo a drug screening, TB testing, fingerprinting, and background check. All testing is set up and paid for by HarmonyCares Hospice. (Ages 14-17 excluded from testing)
