Responsibilities:
The Play Guide is primarily responsible for facilitating play and positive learning experiences in the Museum’s exhibits and programs by:
Interacting with children and their caregivers to encourage play and exploration
Responding appropriately to a variety of visitor learning styles
Using exhibit content in an effective manner to stimulate individual learning
Keeping exhibits functioning and welcoming throughout the day
Speaking knowledgeably about the Museum and its programs and functions
Enforcing Museum rules
Assisting Experience Coordinators as needed with greeting groups, setting up and leading programs, and other tasks as assigned
Skills needed:
Experience working with children
Interest in the ways children learn through play
Comfortable interacting with children and adults
Outgoing, friendly, patient, resourceful and reliable
Excellent communication skills
Spanish-‐speaking desired

Commitment Required: At least three hours per week for at least three to four months; Museum hours are Monday-‐Sunday; shifts are 8:30 AM-‐12 PM, 12-‐3 PM, or 3-‐6 PM, as well as some Friday evenings.

The mission of Providence Children's Museum is to inspire learning through active play and exploration. PCM serves the children of southern New England and the adults who care for them by presenting hands-on exhibits and programs that explore the arts, culture, history and science; creating exhibits and programs based on the developmental needs of children ages 1 to 11; learning from our visitors as they learn from us; creating environments in which people share with one another; embracing a wide range of abilities, learning styles and forms of creative expression; being accessible and responsive to all families - culturally, physically and economically; working in partnership with schools and other organizations to meet the needs of children and families; increasing awareness and knowledge of the ways in which children and families learn.
Description
Providence Children Museum is an active place for children, their families and teachers. Through its hands-on exhibits and participatory programs, the Museum fosters a lifetime love of learning.
