Assist senior adults learning English as a second language in improving their conversational English skills in an informal, small group setting.

Volunteers host one class a week at Josephine Lum Lodge.

Key Responsibilities: Plan and lead small group activities and discussions for adults learning English. Submit simple monthly reports on hours and participants. Maintain contact with Literacy Plus regarding needs, concerns, and any questions that may arise.

Requirements

  • Background Check
  • Proof of COVID-19 Vaccination
  • Orientation or Training
  • 1 Hour a Week
  • Min. 6 month commitment
  • Tutors must be 18 or older, speak English clearly, enjoy working with seniors, and bilingual in Mandarin and English preferred. You do not need a teaching background to be an English Conversation Circle leader.
