Volunteers work under the direction of a team leader/supervisor to assist in the canteen area and escort donors on mobile blood drives. Volunteers are responsible for providing refreshments to donors and for monitoring delayed reactions in the canteen area. The shifts are flexible, depending on the time of day, day of the week, and length of the blood drive. Volunteer shifts are dependent on the mobile calendar, which varies from day to day. This position is located in and around the Sioux City area.
Duties & Responsibilities:
- Greet donors and serve them refreshments after their donations
- Organize and maintain canteen area
- Inform LifeServe Blood Center Staff of any delayed reactions so they can attend to donor quickly (will train on symptoms to look for, how to address donor, etc.)
- Inform donors of importance of donating, thank them for their donation and encourage rescheduling
- Occasionally distribute special give aways
- Escort donors to maintain a smooth flow
- Help pack up canteen area after drive

As one of the 15th largest blood centers in the country, LifeServe Blood Center provides blood and blood products to more than 90 hospitals located across Iowa, Nebraska and South Dakota. LifeServe Blood Center is committed to providing premier service to volunteer blood donors and access to a safe, quality blood supply for hospitals and patients.
Every two seconds, someone, somewhere needs blood. Just one blood donation can impact the lives of up to three different hospital patients. At LifeServe Blood Center, we strive to help people every day; and in order to do that, we need blood donors every day. We need neighbors helping neighbors - people who want to make an impact on a local level. Because at the end of the day, it's about achievement, it's about service and helping our communities. At the end of the day, it's about being a blood donor. Most importantly, it's about life.
