ORGANIZATION: Harbor Light Hospice

  • A group opportunity. Invite your friends.

It's a New Year! Want to make it a good one? Volunteer for hospice patients who need someone just like you - willing to give a final gift that will mean a great deal to you and the person you befriend.

Volunteers are at the heart of our care, and our volunteers find visits to be uplifting, personally gratifying, and emotionally meaningful.

Harbor Light Hospice is actively seeking adults 18 and older who are ready to make a committment to a patient. Patients might live in their own home, assisted living, or in an extended care facility.

We support and honor all our volunteers, as they play a meaningful and much-needed role in patients' lives. Volunteer opportunities are abundant from Galesburg to Macomb to Kewanee, and Aledo, Illinois - and small towns in between.

Please call Susan @309/343-3030 or email aring@harborlighthospice.com for more information.

Mission Statement

The mission of Harbor Light Hospice is to provide dignified end-of-life care and quality services that allow our patients and their families/significant others to live life richly, deeply and meaningfully for as long as it may last, and to die with dignity in the setting of their choice.

Description

Harbor Light Hospice seeks to meet the physical, emotional and spiritual needs of patients and families who are facing a life limiting illness. We focus on life and the quality of living, while accepting the reality of death as a part of life. We provide comfort, company and active treatment of distressing symptoms with patients and their familiy as the focus of care. Services are provided by a team of professionals and volunteers who are physician-directed and nurse-coordinated. Comfort and coping resources are provided to the family for up to 13 months following the death of a loved one. "Family" is patient defined, and may include friends, significant others, life partners, and relatives by blood or marriage.

It is the expectation of Harbor Light Hospice that all employees and volunteers are strongly committed to the dignity and worth of each individual human being. Integrity and responsibility are expected conduct in all contracts with patients, families, other service providers, coworkers, and the public.
