Children of Promise, NYC (CPNYC) is a Brooklyn based non-profit organization committed to embracing and empowering the lives of children of incarcerated parents to break the cycle of intergenerational involvement in the criminal justice system. Volunteers contribute skills, time, knowledge, perspective and personal connections towards the advancement of CPNYC. Your support as a volunteer s is vital to the organization's growth and health.

Mission Statement
Children of Promise, NYC is a community-centered organization that partners with children and families impacted by mass incarceration to dismantle the stigma and heal from the trauma plaguing Black and Brown communities.
Description
CPNYC’s mentoring program, Project DREAM (Developing Responsible, Excellent, and Awesome Minds), matches participants ages 8-18 with one-to-one mentors for a minimum of one year. Mentors are screened and trained, as part of the agency’s larger mission to break the cycle of intergenerational incarceration. Project DREAM offers mentoring matches the opportunity to participate in trips and activities which build the mentoring relationship. Each mentor receives extensive training and support, on an on-going basis and each child in the program receives mental health counseling, academic support and interventions, and opportunities to participate, with their mentor, in recreational and educational activities and outings.
