Our students are adults (18+) studying for their high school equivalency (GED or HiSET tests), working to improve their general literacy, or learning English as a Second Language (ESL) through Wake Tech's College & Career Readiness program. The COVID-19 pandemic has had an impact on our students' ability to further their education, get jobs, and make a living wage for themselves and their families.

Our volunteer tutors work one-on-one or in small groups, online, under the guidance and supervision of volunteer coordinators. Topics include high school equivalency preparation, English (ESL) language practice, basic literacy and math. Average commitment is 1 to 3 hours per week for a minimum of four months. Tutoring is currently online only to allow students and volunteer tutors to engage safely with each other. We anticipate returning to in-person tutoring in the coming months. Volunteers must be residents of Wake County, NC - or surrounding counties.
