Pacific Wildlife Care has a wildlife Rehabilitation Center in Morro Bay which serves all of SLO County. There are many volunteer opportunities which include: training for handling injured wildlife, learning under experienced rehabilitators, as well as support jobs for running the Center (laundry, preparing food, washing food bowls, maintenance, transporting animals) Also need: Office support (phones, data entry)
PHONE VOLUNTEERS: from home or cell-phone, check the hot-line for calls from the public regarding sick, orphaned or injured animals and arrange transport to the Rehab Center. Training available
ALSO: TRANSPORTERS - needed to bring injured animals to the Rehab Center - requires CA Driver's Lic & Auto Insurance. If doing wildlife "retrieval" training is required and offered monthly.
Volunteer Opportunities Orientations are held every month. Check the web-site for the next date. Times for the actual volunteering varies with the job, some can be done at home.
