ORGANIZATION: Bikes for the World

  • 26 people are interested

Bikes for the World obtains a growing number of the used bicycles that it donates overseas, from multi-family residences in the greater Washington DC area. These residences often have bike rooms, where over time a growing number of bikes are abandoned by long-departed tenants.

Bikes for the World requires additional volunteers to pick up these bikes, prepping them for easy movement, storage, and shipping.

The drvier -- bike pick-up will work closely with Bikes for the World management and volunteers to ensure a steady supply of bikes, complementing the weekend donation events which bring in the majority of bikes donated to the organization. Contacts with building management will generally be initiated by the Bikes for the World office, and pick-ups assigned to the driver volunteer to do at his or her convenience.

Note: personal vehicle (pick-up or van) is requested. Bikes for the World can pay mileage.
