Art Birmingham

Art Birmingham, originally known as the Birmingham Fine Art Festival, celebrates its 38th anniversary with a return to Shain Park, downtown Birmingham's newly and extensively redesigned city park. The park is conveniently located in the center of this favorite urban downtown and features all new and welcoming pathways and beautiful landscaping. As the downtown center, the park is surrounded by convenient parking for fairgoers and within easy access to the many unique stores and fabulous restaurants of downtown Birmingham. This exquisite fine art fair will showcase 175 juried artists in an elegant and extraordinary setting.

Featured work includes painting, ceramics, photography, jewelry, glass, wood, sculpture, mixed media, fiber, metal and more.

*Set-up crew - Our set-up day is on Friday, May 10, 2019. This is when 150+ artists from all over the country travel to this destination and begin setting up their booths. There are a few different job titles in this category, but the general idea is that our set-up volunteers assist the travel-weary artists with parking their vehicles on the fair site and unloading their gear. **NO PHYSICAL LABOR REQUIRED** The artists almost never ask volunteers to touch, lift or hold anything for liability reasons. These volunteers are mostly here to help the artists find their designated spaces and maneuver their vehicles through the narrow streets.

*Booth sitters - Many artists travel alone and cannot leave their booths unattended while they use the restroom and get food. Booth sitters give the artists a chance to leave the booth without having to worry that things will be stolen. All you need to do is sit in their booth and be watchful of their belongings until the artists return. This job will be available May 11 & 12.

*Information Booth - Volunteers assist art fair attendees with their questions - such as where the restrooms are, where a certain artist is located, etc. Volunteers will also be passing out the Art Fair Guide. This job is available May 11-12.

*Hospitality managers - We have a booth stocked with refreshments which are for artists and fair staff ONLY. Your job will be to sit in the hospitality booth and make sure that it's tidy and that no fair-goers take the food and drink that has been supplied for the artists. This job will be available May 11-12.

*Tear-down crew - Our tear down is at the close of the event on Sunday, May 12, 2019. There are a few different job titles in this category, but the general idea is that our tear-down volunteers assist the artists with parking their vehicles on the fair site so they can load up their gear. **NO PHYSICAL LABOR REQUIRED** The artists almost never ask volunteers to touch, lift or hold anything for liability reasons. These volunteers are mostly here to help the artists find their designated spaces and maneuver their vehicles through the narrow streets.
