Consider volunteering as a board member of Friends of READ Orange County, a nonprofit organization supporting and promoting adult literacy efforts throughout Orange County with OC READ, the adult literacy services of OC Public Libraries.
Board Members meet monthly, plan & support outreach & tutor training efforts, and promote adult literacy efforts throughout Orange County. Friends of READ OC support and recognize the volunteer tutors & adult learners who participate in OC READ's adult literacy tutoring services.
FROC board members meet monthly, promote adult literacy and volunteer opportunities related to literacy efforts throughout Orange County. They enjoy outreach and public relations efforts focused on the importance of a literate community, fundraising opportunities to provide learning materials and books for volunteer tutors' and adult learners' use. Friends of READ OC host recognition events to celebrate the learning efforts of adult learners and their volunteer tutors. They also strive to generate a greater awareness and support of adult literacy and lifelong learning efforts throughout Orange County.
