Position Title: Disaster Health Services (DHS) Associate. Provides limited healthcare for disaster clients and may work in various assignment settings including the Chapter Headquarters, client homes and community buildings.

Key Responsibilities:

• Initiate life saving procedures including CPR while awaiting the arrival of Emergency Medical Services ( EMS )
• Document on the Health Record (form 2077) in accordance with the HIPAA guidelines to ensure client confidentiality
• Assess disaster related health needs and medical losses of clients
• Evaluate client's physical health and provide minor first aid and health care following appropriate protocols
• Immediately refer critical illness or injury to a higher level of care, such as Emergency Medical Services ( EMS )
• Obtain client's health history, especially preexisting conditions that may have been exacerbated by the disaster
• Complete or obtain all necessary documentation as laid out in the Disaster Health Services protocols (ARC 3042P)
• Obtain Release of Confidential Information (Form 5854) for verification of client's health status by healthcare provider
• Replace lost medical items in accordance with the standardized price list and, after all other resources have been explored, by utilizing the Client Assistance Card ( CAC ) or Disbursing Order (Form 140C)
• Refer individuals with mental or emotional health issues to Disaster Mental Health associates

• Health Professional with a current, active, unencumbered license or certificate
