  • 6 people are interested

Join a team of people who are truly passionate about providing hope and encouragement to the homeless youth of our community.

The Director of Outreach determines the outreach needs of the local program and monitors its progress. The DOO will work closely with the Director of Youth Development, and will support and manage the qualified and trained outreach counselors that conduct weekly outreach, ensuring weekly teams have enough volunteers and to communicate with the volunteer base to recruit when needed. The DOO will solicit feedback to continually evaluate outreach effectiveness and the safety and fulfillment of the volunteers.

The DOO will also be responsible for maintaining a positive street image with kids, businesses and the local community.

As a new DOO, you will begin by joining the outreach teams several times a month to understand how outreach works, how the teams function, who the kids are and the dynamics of outreach. This is a wonderful opportunity to have a hands-on experience of helping homeless youth while building and helping the outreach team to thrive.

Mission Statement

Our core mission is ending the cycle of youth homelessness. We are committed to providing hope and encouragement to homeless and street youth, one youth at a time. We carry out our mission through our volunteers who go to the streets in order to find, stabilize and otherwise help homeless and street kids improve their lives.

Description

Seattle program has created a core leadership group, implemented a solid training program and continues to recruit and train volunteers. We started our street outreach efforts on Capitol Hill in June 2009. Our Street Outreach counselors go to the streets to reach out to homeless and at-risk youth. We connects with homeless and at-risk youth to let them know that there are people who are concerned about their well-being and are there to help.

This critical bonding is the first step towards helping these kids get off the streets and live a better life.
