The 2018 hurricane season has been extraordinarily active in parts of the U.S., with Hurricane Florence currently impacting millions in the Carolinas. As this natural disaster unfolds, the staff here at VolunteerMatch is doing its part to ensure that, if you are in an affected community, you are prepared and safe. McLaren Hospice is looking for dedicated individuals who would like to make a difference in the lives of patients that are being faced with advanced illness. Training is provided and no medical experience is necessary.
Services may include:
Friendly visits with patient and/or family
Listening to patient reminisce about their past
Reading to patient
Respite support for caregiver by sitting with patient while family takes a break
Meal preparation/light housekeeping
Assisting with running errands, letter writing
Additionally, we are looking for volunteers with special talents such as:
Trained therapy dogs
Musically inclined and would like to share their musical gifts
Interest in clerical/office work
Patients are located in Lansing and throughout the greater Lansing area including Charlotte, Eaton Rapids, Mason, Williamston, Haslett, Dewitt, Grand Ledge, Portland and surrounding communities.
