Therapeion volunteer mentors work directly with our riders and horses to provide equine assisted therapy to persons with disabilities, youth at risk, children who have been abused or neglected, and children dealing with mental health issues. Our volunteer mentors must be 18 or older to work directly with our riders due to confidentially issues, but volunteers between the ages of 14 and 18 have lots of other opportunities.
Opportunities include teaching classroom activities and working directly with either our riders or our horses during our riding sessions.
All volunteers who work directly with our riders must pass a backround check and be fingerprinted per State of Indiana requirements.
We also have need for volunteers to lead special projects, design and maintain our landscaping, and help with horse care and barn management.
Groups are welcome and many community service opportunities are available.
Therapeion is currently looking for a volunteer coordinator. Please contact the director for information on this position.
