We are looking for caring, committed adults interested in serving foster children and youth as a court appointed special advocate (CASA) volunteer. There are nearly 300 children in foster care in our community. Less than 60 of those children are currently served through our network of volunteers.
CASA volunteers get to know the child by talking with everyone in that child's life; parents and relatives, foster parents, teachers, medical professionals, attorneys, social workers and others. They use the information they gather to inform judges and others of what the child needs and what will be the best permanent home for them.
You do not have to be a lawyer or social worker to be a volunteer advocate. We welcome people from all walks of life. We are simply looking for people who care about children and have common sense. As a volunteer, you will be thoroughly trained and well supported by professional staff to help you through each case.

Mission Statement
Fairbanks CASA recruits, trains, supervises and supports volunteers who serve foster children and youth as a court appointed special advocate (CASA).
Description
Nobody longs for a safe and loving family more than a child in foster care. As a CASA volunteer, you will be the one consistent adult in these children's lives, fighting for and protecting their right to be treated with the dignity and respect every child deserves. You will not only bring positive change to the lives of these vulnerable children, but in doing so, you will enrich your life as well.
CASA volunteers get to know the child by talking to everyone involved in that child's life: parents, relatives, foster parents, teachers, medical professionals, attorneys, social workers and others. They use the information to inform judges and others of what the child needs and what will be the best permanent plan.

You must complete a free 30+ hour training course, agree to stay with a case until it's closed, pass a background check, and be sworn into service by a judge.
To get started, visit our website, follow our Facebook page, or attend an information meeting. We look forward to hearing from you!
