VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITY

We're looking for passionate, enthusastic individuals interested in volunteering a little of their time for a nonprofit faith-based magazine that focuses on highlighting the diversity of followers of Christ and helping new Christians (believers) understand Christian perspectives on many topics and issues.

We're looking for those interested in researching stories, topics, people, and organizations to be featured in future articles. Research would be conducted mostly the Internet, but also involve keeping up on news, local and international, networking with friends and acquaintances to discover ordinary people of faith doing amazing things for God. Roughly 5 hours of time per week is required and would include researching topic ideas of interest to our audience, people and organizations, and writing up small 3 sentence summaries of what it is and why it's interesting. Summaries would aslo include appropriate contact information, such as name, phone number and website. The information gathered would then be submitted weekly to the magazine's editorial staff. In volunteering your time with New Identity Magazine, you will gain great experience working alongside an organization and magazine publication to create great articles that truly represent the global church and the diversity of followers of Christ.

You may also have the opportunity to learn how the flow of a magazine works, the importance of keeping in mind an 18-35, young adult audience while you reasearch ideas, topics and stories, and additional skills that comes with being involved in a publication.

MISSION

New Identity Magazine's mission as a publication is to help people find their new identity in Christ by representing interesting topics, issues and ideas from multiple Christian perspectives. New Identity Magazine plans to generate the communication and understanding to unite people that hail from different ends of the spectrum and encourage thought provoking discussion and commonality through Christ. By using scriptures of the Holy Bible as the source, the Word that binds Christians together, and highlighting different insights into their intention and application, New Identity Magazine will help readers live a more stimulating, inclusive, and passionate life with God.

We desire to dissolve the rules, categories and stereotypes placed on Christians and non-Christians, shed God's light into the areas that may be forgotten or rarely talked about but vital in many people's lives, and provide coverage of topics often overlooked by the mainstream media or in religious circles. By doing so we hope to help new believers in Christ gain a better understanding of topics and subjects from Christian perspectives and help the general public better understand the variety of views in Christianity and the cultural and ethnic differences that can be embraced through education. We also hope that the magazine can be used as a tool by Christians and non-Christians to share with others about God and faith-based perspectives.
