Position Description:
Do you love writing, but lack inspiration? Look no further because you need to write and we need stories! Ride Connection is a crucial component of our region’s transportation system: last year we provided nearly 417,000 rides to people who would otherwise be without transportation options. We need your help in increasing public awareness around the issues of transportation and mobility issues for older adults and those with disabilities.
Volunteers are needed to put our rider’s stories down on paper so we can advocate for funding and educate the general public about what we do. Volunteers call riders and ask them about their experiences using Ride Connection’s array of services. Capture the faces of our riders and volunteers by taking pictures. From your notes and possible pictures you’ll create simple, short and inspirational stories that may be posted on our Facebook page and website, send to legislators, share with local media outlets and use in brochures and appeal letters.

From older adults to people with disabilities to low-income individuals and underserved communities, we provide essential transportation such as door-to-door rides, community shuttles, and one-on-one public transit training. By giving people the means to get around, we offer independence, health, and inclusion. Our services bring together friends and family, prevent social isolation, alleviate financial stress and create new connections that strengthen our community. Ride Connection remains committed to providing inclusive transportation options for all individuals in need in Multnomah, Washington, and Clackamas counties. At Ride Connection, we believe that mobility equals independence.
