Those young men who have not received their high school diploma, work diligently to prepare for the GED, which is a challenging test. If you believe you can help our teens in any subject area and feel you are a match for this opportunity, please contact us to discuss this opportunity. Internships are available.

About Our House Residential Job Training Center

Location:

Mission Statement

Young people who have positive self-esteem, discipline, a viable trade, and independent living skills are more likely to become productive members of society. The mission of Our House is to provide the opportunity for at-risk adolescents to develop these qualities and skills. Our House accomplishes this by means of a residential vocational/educational training program. This specialized program nurtures the growth of self-esteem and self-discipline in the adolescent while they learn carpentry and practice the basic skills that they need to live independently.

It is our expectation that each Trainee during his enrollment at Our House will increase his self-esteem, develop positive attitudes, practice constructive behaviors, receive training in a viable trade, attain the maximum educational competence in reading, writing and mathematics based on ability and past achievement, and learn independent living and life skills. Achievement of these goals prepares each Trainee to cope as productive and tax paying adults.

Description

Our House is a residential job training facility for at-risk adolescents that teaches the building trades during the day (carpentry, plumbing, electric, roofing, etc), and teaches academic classes at night. The students build and/or renovate buildings during an 8 hour day, and attend academic (G.E.D.) and life skills classes six nights a week.

The school accepts boys aged 16 - 21, and offers a program with significant emphasis on personal accountability and development of self-esteem. The students have individual counseling and group therapy every week.
