The senior center in Snohomish is looking for people who can help with the following areas of responsibility;

Duties and Responsibilities-
Board members are responsible for ensuring effective and fiscally sound programs and operations. They do this by following the adopted by-laws, representing the needs of the general membership and providing leadership, advice and direction to the staff and volunteers of the organization.
Volunteer (Board Member) will:
Follow the Board Code of Ethics
Prepare for each meeting of the BOD by reading material distributed prior to the meeting
Attends regular and special Board meetings and participates in proceedings
Attends many general membership meetings
Represents the needs and interests of all members of the organization
Recognizes that only the Board as a whole has authority by respecting majority decisions,does not take unilateral action.
Serves as an advocate of and demonstrates loyalty to the organization and its members
Displays knowledge of current programs and staff of the organization, remains accessible to staff and other Board members
Solicits financial support of others for the organization
Serves as an active, participating member of at least one committee
Takes initiative and provides leadership, fulfills commitments within established deadlines
Avoids any perception of conflict of interest
Demonstrates the desire and ability to work as part of a team, acknowledges differing points of view, works to resolve issues with care and respect
Shares resources and talents with the organizations, including personal expertise, contact and information learned through networking and or training opportunities.

Mission Statement
The Retired and Senior Volunteer Program of Snohomish County matches skills/training and preferences of persons 55+ to available volunteer opportunities and promotes their voluntary service as a valuable community resource.
Description
RSVP matches personal interests, skills and lifelong experiences with non-profit public organizations at over 116 different partner agencies, including non-profits, throughout the county. Benefits of being an RSVP volunteer are: ~excess insurance coverage including Liability, Auto, and Accident. ~partial reimbursement for transporatation costs to and from volunteer stations, subject to certain regulations and limits. ~ongoing recognition and Annual Recognition Event to RSVP volunteers. The only agency tracking and reporting the volunteer activities of persons age 55 and older through the National Senior Corps, RSVP promotes retired and senior persons as viable members of the community, able to share their skills, time and experience through volunteer service.
