Help low-income families access vital tax credits without the fees! You can gain valuable experience and help people in our community this tax season. Visit SWPAFreeTaxes.org for more details.
Last year, 280 volunteers helped to prepare more nearly 8,000 tax returns for low-income households and delivered $10.6 million in refunds back to Southwestern PA residents.
No professional experience is needed - Tax preparation volunteers are given extensive free training in January and ongoing support throughout the tax season.
We partner with United Way and the Free Tax Prep Coalition at tax sites around Pittsburgh and across Allegheny, Westmoreland, Fayett, Greene , and Washington counties.
You will be required to pass the IRS certification test and to commit to a minimum of 3 hours each week throughout tax season (January 22 - April 15, 2024) .
To learn more, visit SWPAFreeTaxes.org. Registration opens November 1, 2023!

About Just Harvest
Location:
317 East Carson Street, Pittsburgh, PA 15219, US
Mission Statement
Just Harvest works to promote a just system of food access by addressing the root causes of hunger - systemic poverty and inequity - through policy advocacy, grassroots organizing, community-based solutions, and connecting people to benefits.
Description
Our Program Areas:
ADVOCATING FOR CHANGE: We advocate for policies at the federal, state, county, and local level that alleviate hunger and poverty in our region. Issues that we work on include: Protecting nutrition programs such as SNAP, fair tax policies, and addressing food deserts.
CONNECTING PEOPLE TO BENEFITS
SNAP Makes a Difference: SNAP is the critical anti-hunger and anti-poverty safety net benefit, helping 1.8 million Pennsylvanians and 47 million nationwide. For 7 years, Just Harvest has provided assistance to help thousands of low-income households apply for benefits.
Case Advocacy: We advocate for the fair treatment of clients as they navigate safety-net bureaucracies. Whether it is a food stamp participant who has been denied benefits unfairly, or a mother on welfare seeking a work exemption because of illness, we are here to help clients get what they need.
Fresh Access: The Fresh Access program fights hunger by improving access to nutritious food at farmers markets across the Pittsburgh area.
Free Tax Prep Coalition: As a lead partner in the United Way of Allegheny County’s Free Tax PrepCoalition - Just Harvest provides free, IRS-certified income tax preparation for low-income tax clients at four Volunteer Income Tax Assistance Sites in Allegheny County.
