Elder with Flowers

The Visiting Volunteer Advocate can be either an individual or a family who is matched with and helps relieve the isolation of one older adult through life-enriching friendship and caring attention. The volunteer serves as part of a continuum of care that helps ensure elders enjoy a greater sense of connection, dignity and well-being. Volunteers share the warmth of togetherness with Elder Friends in a variety of ways including: 1. paying visits to the elder in their own home; 2. having the Elder Friend visit the volunteer’s home; 3. taking the elder on outings of mutual interest. Time commitment: 3 - 6 hours per month.

The Visiting Volunteer Advocate Program forms part of LBFE’s Companionship Care Services, which also include our In-Person Check-in Volunteer and Phone Companion Programs, which together ensure a spectrum of companionship that offers deeper engagement and more social connection opportunities for our elders.

In addition to the Visiting Volunteer Advocate, other volunteer opportunities with Little Brothers - Friends of the Elderly include: In-Person Check-In Volunteers, Phone Companions, Friendship and Flowers Volunteers and Event Team Member/Sponsors.
