Located in Marlboro, Orange County New York, five miles north of Newburgh, it is as the oldest standing Jewish dwelling in North America. It was also home to American Revolutionary Wolfert Acker, who built the second story and attic; Edward and William Henry Armstrong, 19th century gentleman farmers whose descendents are related through marriage to Peter Stuyvesant and the NY State political dynasty of Hamilton Fish; world renown craftsman-artisan Dard Hunter who lived in the house, built his first paper mill and produced many of his early signature works on the property in the early 20th century; and social activist, founding member of the NAACP, and colleague and co-author of W.E.B.
