Online ESOL Tutor Training

LVMont volunteer tutors help adults acquire the literacy and English language skills that empower them to realize their goals. By improving their basic skills through tutoring, adults are better able to meet life's challenges, be self-sufficient, provide for their families, help their children with homework, read a daily newspaper, enjoy more independence and gain self-confidence. We ask volunteers to commit to tutoring their student for 2 hours per week for 9 to 12 months.
This is a 12-hour online training that will prepare volunteer tutors to work with an adult English language learner. There are 12 hours spent synchronously together in Zoom, and there is additional asynchronous work done between the synchronous sessions. LVMont provides a textbook and binder of materials, which will need to be picked up before the first session. Prospective volunteers must complete an application beforehand.
