LVMont volunteer tutors help adults acquire the literacy and English language skills that empower them to realize their goals. By improving their basic skills through tutoring, adults are better able to meet life's challenges, be self-sufficient, provide for their families, help their children with homework, read a daily newspaper, enjoy more independence and gain self-confidence. We ask volunteers to commit to tutoring their student for 2 hours per week for 9 to 12 months.
This is a free 18-hour in-person training taking place at the Leominster Public Library that will prepare volunteer tutors to work with an adult English language learner. This training will introduce tutors to techniques to teach conversation, grammar, pronunciation, and vocabulary. Prospective volunteers must complete an application beforehand. More information and applications will be available at our May Volunteer Information Sessions. Prior application is required. Please apply by September 15 .
