The ability to read and write is the basis for all other education. Literacy is essential for even the simplest tasks. Empower adults to make a better life for themselves and their families through the Literacy program. Change a life today! We are looking for volunteer tutors (training online) to tutor adult learners for English as a Second Language (ESL). We also require tutors for GED and TASC (Test Assessing Secondary Completion - high school equivalency exam) programs.

Mission Statement

Make a Difference in Your Community!

Description

Make a Difference in Your Community!

CVAC is a program of Cornell Cooperative Extension of Chemung County.

CVAC provides education and opportunities for people of all ages to make a difference in their community through volunteer service. CVAC volunteers contribute anywhere from a few to over forty hours a week, serving through schools, hospitals, food pantries, and other nonprofit and public organizations to help meet critical community needs. Our staff members work with agencies and organizations to offer individuals maximum flexibility and choice.

With CVAC you can either enroll as a Cornell Cooperative Extension volunteer to work directly with our programs, or sign you up as an affiliated volunteer and work with any number of partner agencies. In both cases, we match your interests to those of agencies needing your skills and talents.
