As an Interpretive Assistant, you have the choice of working at the Wright Cycle Company Complex (which includes the Wright-Dunbar Interpretive Center and the Wright Cycle Company building on the west side of Dayton) or the Huffman Prairie Flying Field Interpretive Center (located on Wright-Patterson Air Force Base). You will be staffing one of the park's contact desks. You will be providing visitors with orientation to the building and exhibits and start films upon request. You will be answering visitor questions, providing needed directions to other places, and providing general insight into the stories represented by the park. As a park volunteer, you will also be responsible for accepting payment for the sale of material in the bookstore and you may be operating a flight simulator.
You have a responsibility for maintaining a professional appearance, following current CDC guidelines for COVID-19, and for the proper wearing of volunteer uniform items that will be provided. Work will be performed indoors in a visitor center or in a historic structure, with some short distance roving on the grounds between our buildings. Training in all of the areas covered here will be provided.
