Imagine dreading answering the phone or paying for groceries. Adults who don't speak English feel isolated and intimidated by every day activities. They want to contribute to our community by working, volunteering or simply having a conversation with their neighbors. But their English skills lag.

You can help by volunteering as an English as a second language tutor! Washtenaw Literacy's ESL tutoring is completely free of charge for adults. As a volunteer, you tutor adults in an informal, friendly atmosphere. Adults practice speaking English or work on related skills: reading, writing, discussion of U.S. culture or history.
