Imagine dreading answering the phone or paying for groceries. Adults who don't speak English feel isolated and intimidated by every day activities. They want to contribute to our community by working, volunteering or simply having a conversation with their neighbors. But their English skills lag.
You can help by volunteering in an English as a second language group. Washtenaw Literacy's ESL groups are completely free of charge for adults. As a group volunteer, you tutor adults in an informal, friendly atmosphere. Adults practice speaking English or work on related skills: reading, writing, discussion of U.S. culture or history.You can find our calendar of groups at:
