The position of Employment Assistant Intern directly supports ECAC’s Employment Development program. The program seeks out job opportunities for newly arrived refugees and immigrants and provides them with the skills to seek out their own employment.

The Employment Assistant Intern:

(1) Researches job opportunities for new immigrants who may have little English and/or marketable skills;

(2) Helps establish & maintain relationships with employers who will hire our client base;

(3) Assists refugee clients through the hiring process;

(4) Assists Job Developers and Employment manager with their work;

(5) Completes other related duties as needed.

In addition to assisting native Ethiopians, the ECAC supports all African, Asian, Middle Eastern and Eastern European refugee populations who seek its services. Established in 1984, ECAC assists in the promotion of personal growth, financial stability, positive family and community relations, and community empowerment. The adjustment and development of all of ECAC’s constituents is facilitated with programs in the areas of advocacy, education, employment, healthcare and community outreach.

ECAC activities include: Refugee Reception & Placement; Employment Services; Match Grant (MG) program; Child and Youth Development; English as a Second Language (ESL); and Preferred Communities (PC) program; Citizenship and Immigration Services.
