POSITION OVERVIEW:

Reading Expedition Leaders help children and young adults K-12 become independent readers. Under the supervision of the Literacy Coordinator, Reading Expedition Leaders tutor and design teaching lessons to help improve the learner's reading comprehension, vocabulary, decoding, and word recognition.

TIME COMMITMENT:

Position requires a six-month minimum commitment. Each tutor and learner pair meets twice a week, studies for an hour and a half each meeting.

Description

The Covina Public Library engages the talents, skills and commitment of volunteers to serve the communities' information and literacy needs. We offer a variety of skilled volunteer opportunities to make a meaningful contribution to library programs, operations, fundraising events and other community engagement functions. Skilled volunteers have opportunities to lead projects, work with teams of staff and volunteers, learn new skills, and have fun.
