Do you want to make a difference? Do you like helping others? If so, you are in the right place! At Heatland Hospice, our volunteers are committed to serving patients and caregivers by easing their burdens through very difficult times. Friendly visit tasks include visiting, reading, writing a letter, or listening. You may also have an opportunity to run errands or sit with patients in order to relieve the caregiver(s). In addition, our administrative volunteers provide a valuable service by helping with tasks in the office.
The role of the volunteer is an essential part of the Heartland Hospice Team and they are truly considered the "heart of hospice".

Mission Statement
The mission of heartland Hospice is to provide quality hospice care to patients with a limited life expectancy, as well as support to their caregivers. The quality of life for those we serve is enhanced through palliative and specilized supportive care designed to meet the physical, psychosocial, and spiritual needs of the patients and caregivers. Hospice care is provided by an interdisciplinary team utilizing an approch to the care delived to patients either in their own home or extended care facility; working cooperatively with area health care providers and other community resources. Heartland strives to provide care to all who are eligible and need hopice care irrespective of ability to pay.

Volunteers are a part of the Hospice team. We depend on our volunteers to help us provide the extra love and care our clients and their famililes need at this time in their life
Volunteers offer support, companionship and practical, caring help to this special group of people. Volunteers may use their own special talents to share with the patients.
As a Heartland Hospice volunteer, your can donate as much or as little of your time as you desire, The duties of our volunteers are varied. This flexibility allows you to find an area of service that is uniquely sutied to you as well as provide you with the greatest personal satisfaction.

- Here at Heartland Hospice, to ensure the safety of our patients, and the integrity of our volunteers, we require a background check, drug screen, and we provide 13 hours of training before you visit patients or volunteer in the office.
