The Saturday Respite Program is designed to give families of children with developmental disabilities a break for 5 hours each saturday. This break allows the families to go shopping, go out to eat, or just stay at home while they know that their child is being well cared for in a program that provides a safe atmosphere, socialization, and the opportunity to participate in arts and crafts activities, learn to cook, and engage in a fun style of exercise.
If you have experience working with children either with a developmental disability (or even a typical child) then this is the volunteer opportunity for you. We are always looking for people with a background in some type of childcare, a teaching background, or even a parent that has raised or is still raising their children. If you would like to share your talents with us, then this is the right program for you. Only the energetic and highly motivated are encouraged to volunteer!!

Description
The Arc of Atlantic County has been providing valuable services to children and adults with developmental disabilities and their families since 1961. We serve approximately 1,000 people in a variety of programs. Our residential programs include group homes, supervised apartments and supported living options. Many of our consumers are living in the community with their families and receive our case management and family support services. Other community-based programs include advocacy, our popular recreational programs, and supported employment services. Additionally, The Arc provides Direct Support Professional Training and Fetal Alcohol Syndrome (FAS) Education and Outreach. Learn more about us at www.thearcatlantic.org
No Experience Necessary: Our Vision is that people have the opportunities and support they need to live the lives they choose. That means you too. We believe that anyone with a desire to volunteer has something to offer. While some positions have specific skills required, most simply require you to be yourself. Your volunteer work is based on your skills and interests and is matched with the current needs of our programs.
