To many New Yorkers, the holidays and The Salvation Army are synonymous. Come November, signature Salvation Army red kettles dot the city’s most trafficked corners. The generous donations of passerbys help fund The Salvation Army’s many winter assistance programs. Together, each quarter, dime and nickle translates into tens of thousands of toys given to children, an equal number of holiday meals for the homeless, and cheer-spreading visits to prisons, hospitals, and nursing homes. Kettle donations also help fund the 140 community and social services programs the Army operates year round.
How can you help? We are looking for Volunteers to help raise money to fund programs that will assist the East End of Long Island. If you have an outgoing personality, a big smile, a little endurance, and a heart for helping people, then you’ll be perfect for this volunteer opportunity! We do ask volunteers to make a four hour time commitment between the hours of 9 a.m. and 9 p.m. Monday through Saturday.
*Anyone under 18 years old must be accompanied by an adult.

Mission Statement
The Salvation Army, an international movement, is an evangelical part of the universal Christian Church. Its message is based on the Bible. Its ministry is motivated by the love of God. Its mission is to preach the gospel of Jesus Christ and to meet human needs in His name without discrimination.
Description
The Salvation Army is dedicated to Doing the most Good year round and it’s not possible without the help of YOU, the community members, who graciously donate your time, skills, and funds to make all that we do possible.
We are always welcoming volunteers to join us in our crusade to make the world a better place. We are currently looking for volunteers for several areas of service. The first being our Christmas Department! We are looking for volunteers, especially bi-lingual (but not necessary), to help us run interviews for our Christmas Toy Shop throughout October. For November and December we are looking for volunteers to help with toy collection, distribution, and kettle ringing. Year round we are looking for volunteers to help us in our Food Pantry and Soup Kitchen.
